PIP, a local pop-rock band originally known as "Paint it Peach," has advanced to the finals of the Wishcovery Originals and is now a step away from winning the music competition's grand prize.
On November 7, 2021, seven (7) local Original Pilipino Music (OPM) artists from across the country, including PIP, the first Ilokano acts to qualify for the championship, will battle in the popular Wish 107.5-produced singing-songwriting grand finals.
The power-viewing of the finalists' tracks on Wish 107.5's Youtube channel, which began on October 25 and will end on November 5, will account for 20% of the total score.
Moreover, the winning act will receive a P1 million cash prize, a contract with KDR Music House, a house and lot, and a brand new car.
"It felt like a dream. Sobrang saya, sobrang thankful, sobrang blessed. At the same time, grabe yung kaba, nerbyos, at takot kasi grand finals na ito pero nandoon pa rin yung excitement," Elle Caleon, PIP vocalist, shared.
"Sapat," the band's original song that propelled them to the grand finals, is about self-worth and giving a message of hope and love, especially amid the pandemic.
Their songs "Make It So" and "Pikit," both of which can be heard on Spotify, also helped them get through the weekly and monthly eliminations.
Furthermore, PIP has performed at events hosted by the Provincial Government, such as the Kailian ni Bongbong concerts, Ilocos Rocks, Himala sa Buhangin, Marcos Fiesta, Kaway Kampay, and Sirib activities. In addition, the band won consecutively in "Battle of the Bands" from 2014 to 2017.
"Don't be afraid to take risks. Explore. Sabi nga ni Tine, ang aming guitarist at main songwriter, 'There are endless possibilities. The only limit, if you let it, is yourself," Caleon concluded, challenging other local bands in Ilocos Norte to engage in a larger music scene.
