The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN), through its Communications and Media Office (CMO), has concluded the emergency communication workshop for all local information providers in the province today, November 6, at the Provincial Capitol Auditorium.

Dubbed as the "I.N. COVID-19 Communication Responders Workshop and Forum," the event aims to improve the emergency and disaster communication response of the local government units (LGUs) in Ilocos Norte, particularly at this time of the pandemic.

Each LGU was represented by their Information Officer, Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer, Sangguniang Kabataan President, and official Facebook Page Manager.

Topics included at the four-day workshop were recorded lecture on Crisis Communication and Effective Facebook Management, which were discussed by the Department of Education Public Affairs Officer Mr. June Arvin C. Gudoy and CMO Online Content Officer Ms. Jhazmine Audrey Miguel, respectively.

Through these, the participants were educated on the importance of communication and provided basic training on customer service, particularly social media management.

"Hindi lang COVID-19 ang ating binabantayan kundi pati rin ang mga weather disturbances. For the past seven months that we are in a Community Quarantine, we worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Habang tulog ang ating mga kailian, tayo ay gising at naka-antabay sa mga updates ng Department of Health, PAG-ASA, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, at iba pa," Ms. Rhona B. Daoang, Officer-in-Charge of CMO, empathized.

"As communication responders, we have the key to information. Kayo ang aming kaagapay sa pagbabahagi ng mga updates, policies, programs at iba pang impormasyon dito sa probinsya," she continued.

The workshop and forum was facilitated by Media Incentive Desk Officer Mr. Radz Bismonte and Ilocos Norte COVID-19 Center Officer Mr. Jasper Bartolome.
