Mar. 22, 2022 ...

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN), headed by Governor Matthew J. Marcos Manotoc, has been awarded by the National Task Force on COVID-19 and the Department of Interior and Local Government earlier today, March 22, at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, for being one of the top performing local government units in the recent National Vaccination Day.

The national government led its latest mass COVID-19 vaccination drive, targeting 1.8 million Filipinos, in its fourth phase from March 10 to 12. This nationwide effort has prioritized booster doses for those in the health and economic sectors, those whose second doses are due or who have missed doses, remaining members of the target elderly population who have yet to complete their shots, and those aged 12 to 17 years old who are not yet fully immunized.

PGIN has excelled in the category of number of A2 (elderly population) doses completed. By the end of 2021, Ilocos Norte has the highest percentage with at least one (1) vaccination dose in Region 1.

Gov. Marcos Manotoc has lauded Ilokano frontliners in line with this achievement:

"We have been able to carry out our vision of a 'healthier' Ilocos Norte. We deeply thank all of our frontliners, from our medical frontliners, to our uniformed personnel, to our BHERTs, who continue to protect us in this pandemic. Thank you very much. "

According to the Department of Health-Region I, Ilocos Norte remains to have the highest number of vaccines administered among Region I provinces. As of March 04, a total of 438, 267, or 88% of the 496, 042 target population, have been fully vaccinated. On the other hand, the Province has recorded 488, 764 partially vaccinated residents.
