MINC reports 38% increase in Holy Week passenger count, announces new Night Express sched for summer season

The Metro Ilocos Norte Council (MINC), transport group under the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN), catered to a total of 436 passengers during the Holy Week season from March 23-27.

Trips were available from Laoag City to Bacarra, Batac City/Paoay, Dingras, Pasuquin, Pagudpud, and Nueva Era. Travel to the latter two towns were offered until 9:00p.m., while other destinations offered trips as late as 11:00p.m.

Ilocos Norte Tourism Office (INTO) Head Mr. Aianree Raquel shared, "this is an overall view of the performance of our transport sector. The Night Express passenger count, compared to last year's Holy Week, was able to register a 38% increase in the number of passengers."

INTO reported a total tourist arrival of 444,980 within the season, showing a 91.24% increase from the 232,678 recorded last year.

Meanwhile, the Night Express will continue to offer extended schedules to accommodate travelers during the ongoing graduation season and coming summer. Specific schedules for the different town festivals have also been laid out.

The schedules will be updated on online properties of PGIN, public utility vehicle (PUV) terminals, and municipal and city halls.
