Recognized for his "excellent and successful leadership," Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc received the "Honorary Governor of the Year" award at the 2022 Nation Builders and World Most Sustainable and Livable MOSLIV Awards from the Sustainability Standards Inc., at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila, last March 19.

"I would like to dedicate this award to all the frontliners in Ilocos Norte. Those in the medical field, those uniformed personnel, and our barangay fronliners, our BHERTs (Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams), and of course to all local chief executives, leaders, and volunteers in Ilocos Norte," Gov. Marcos Manotoc expressed in his acceptance speech.

Meanwhile, the Province of Ilocos Norte was also awarded "Most Sustainable and Livable Province" for its successful implementation of sustainable development and green initiative projects.

Sustainability Standards Inc. is an international award-giving body recognizing individuals, local government units, communities, and organizations, among others, championing the principles of a "smarter, sustainable, and greener community."

"It is a great honor and I am humbled by these awards. Of course, it revitalizes me in my service to our province-mates, to provide the services that are very much needed, and to emphasize agriculture, tourism, and most importantly, livelihood," he remarked.

Amidst the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, among Gov. Marcos Manotoc's priorities are sustaining agriculture development by shifting to more profitable crops and leveling up mechanization, promoting tourism through site and program development, and reshaping the local economy by preserving or creating businesses, jobs, and livelihoods, among others.

From 2017 to 2019, he was likewise inducted into the Hall of Fame as an "Outstanding Local Legislator" by another award-giving body for his competence as a Senior Board Member of Ilocos Norte.

"Maraming salamat po. Thanks to you, we are safe and sound and we have been able to get by amidst the pandemic. Now we see the light and we are building back better. Many thanks to you all at mabuhay ang Pilipinas," Gov. Marcos Manotoc ended.
