The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte has pledged Php 3 million to aid provinces affected by the recent onslaught of Typhoon Odette.
Financial aid amounting to Php 500, 000 will be given to each of the worst-hit provinces, namely the provinces of Cebu, Guimaras, Southern Leyte, Bohol, Negros Occidental, and Surigao del Sur.
"Odette" made landfall in the country nine times from December 16 to 17. At its peak, "Odette" had maximum sustained winds of 195 km/h, raised at Signal No. 4, characterized by torrential rains, violent winds, storm surges, and massive landslides. At least 250 people have been declared dead as of this writing.
Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc has sympathized by ensuring that "the North stands with all those affected."
Moreover, PGIN organized a disaster relief assistance donation drive. The goods will be immediately shipped and distributed to areas devastated by "Odette." Meanwhile, other cash donations will be coordinated with local government unit officials.
In its aftermath, 12 cities and municipalities were placed under a state of calamity.
