EMERGENCY HOTLINE 911

Governor Imee launches 911 hotline

Dec. 28, 2016 ...

Streamlining emergency response for Ilocanos, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte and the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO) launched the Provincial Incident Response Management (PIRM) 911 on December 22, 2016.

PIRM 911 allows for quick response from public safety agencies and other law enforcement offices to anyone in the province. This is in line with the vision of Gov. Imee R. Marcos towards making Ilocos Norte liveable, sustainable and resilient. The provincial government had been coordinating with the DILG to provide a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) in the province as early as July this year, while the overall establishment of a Provincial Call Center had been on deck for the past two years.

While waiting for the PSAP, Police Provincial Director Melencio Nartatez said the immediate implementation of the 911 will be beneficial as it will foresee necessary improvements such as quicker response time, prefessionalizing the response team itself, and state of the art software and equipment to be used.

"What's important is nagtra-trabaho na, kasi kung 'di natin sisimulan ito, sinong magsisimula? Kung hindi ngayon, kailan pa natin sisimulan? Ngayon na natin simulan!" said PD Nartatez.

The PIRM 911 was launched with four temporary hotlines that are open 24/7 and managed by PNP staff and trained provincial government personnel.

Agents also demonstrated a mock emergency call of a vehicular accident and recorded a response time of five minutes.

"We really want to respond in 5 – 7 minutes ideally, sana ganun. We'll keep it down to seven minutes ideally because that's the benchmark that has been established by Davao City and I'm hopeful that this will actually come to flourish even with this buko – bukotagpi-tagpi na Ilocano style – whatever we have, we use in the meantime." said Gov. Marcos.

PD Nartatez confirmed that INPPO has already disseminated the temporary hotlines to all the municipalities and cities of the province.

He explained that hotlines were also given to all the chiefs of police in the province and are expected to be disseminated to the barangay levels as well. PD Nartatez also assured that the equipment of the PNP are complete to respond to such emergencies.

Temporary hotlines are 077-600-0948, 077-772-1772, 09999997707 and 09171099911.
