Oct. 11, 2021 ...

Gov. Matthew Marcos Manotoc convened all members of Local Risk Reduction throughout the province via a virtual meeting yesterday, for the immediate implementation of preparedness measures and flood mitigation control actions, as Tropical Storm (TS) "Maring" has entered  the province.

At 3:00 a.m. today, the center of TS "Maring" was estimated based on all available data at 365 km East of Aparri, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 105 km/h. Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 was raised in several areas in northern Luzon including Ilocos Norte.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Resiliency Council (PDRRMRC) has started mobilizing local counterparts to reinforce rainy season preparedness measures in various local government units since yesterday.

Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc has also directed local chief executives to prepare their own alternative evacuation centers separate from their COVID-19 isolation facilities for possible flashfloods or landslides due to heavy rains.

Based on the monitoring report of the different LGUs, all major roads throughout the province are still passable to all types of vehicles. Likewise, all water levels are normal, and there are no flooding and no untoward incidents reported, as of writing.
