Almost 17,000 people are now fully vaccinated in Ilocos Norte

A total of 16,914 individuals in Ilocos Norte have completed their COVID-19 vaccinations as of July 16, 2021, according to the Provincial Health Office.

11,176 frontline healthcare workers, 4719 senior citizens, 979 people with comorbidity, and 40 economic workers have already received both jabs.

Last Wednesday, Ilocos Norte received 35,250 doses of various COVID-19 vaccine brands from the Department of Health Regional Office I (DOH-ROI).

Among these is the first tranche of 3,400 AstraZeneca doses procured by the Provincial Government, and DOH allocation of 23,350 Johnson & Johnson Janssen doses; 3,000 Gamaleya Sputnik V doses; and 5,500 AstraZeneca doses.

Due to the timely arrival of vaccines, Task Force Salun-at has slated a mass vaccination rollout last July 20, 2021, to step up the province's inoculation efforts. The mass vaccination at Divine Word College of Laoag will run until tomorrow, July 24.

Additionally, the following Ilocos Norte component cities and municipalities will receive the highest quantity of Janssen vaccines: 4870 doses for Laoag City, 2090 doses for Carasi, 1570 doses for Dingras, 1480 doses for Vintar, 1420 doses for San Nicolas, 1340 doses for Badoc, 1260 doses for Bacarra, and 1040 doses for Pasuquin. The remaining towns will also have their share of the said vaccine.

Furthermore, Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc thanked vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. and National Task Force COVID-19 Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon for their assistance in ensuring that the province will receive adequate vaccine supply, noting that Ilocos Norte has enough shots on hand for 30,000 people.

He also appealed to the private healthcare industry, saying, "I'm calling upon the private medical sector, which I have been in touch with, to help us rollout these vaccines as fast and as wide as possible." 

According to the DOH Center for Health Development I, 519,773 COVID-19 doses have been delivered to the different provinces of the Ilocos Region as of July 21, 2021. Pangasinan received the most vaccines, with 156,328 doses, followed by La Union and Ilocos Sur, each with 108,830 and 106,852. Ilocos Norte received 106,107 doses as well, with Dagupan City receiving the least with 41,656.
