Senator Bongbong Marcos on Friday, October 16, 2015 goes back to his
roots in Ilocos Norte by visiting his family’s ancestral home in Batac
The senator recalls how visiting the ancestral home in Batac City
brings luck to the past political endeavors of his father, former
President Ferdinand E. Marcos.
Moreover, Senator Marcos was the seventh person who filed his
Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on Tuesday, October 13, believing that it
was a ‘good omen’ as the Marcoses believe in the luck that the
number seven brings into their family.
Meanwhile, the visit also coincides with Senator Marcos seeking for an
all-out support from the Ilocanos, ensuring one ‘Solid North’ vote
The ‘Solid North’ is the bloc vote delivered by Ilocanos or the
preference of Ilocanos to deliver votes for a fellow Ilocano.
Speaking during the luncheon he hosted at the Malacanang of the North
in Paoay, Ilocos Norte, Senator Marcos said that “every great voyage
must start at home.”
“You cannot start a national campaign, on this voyage, if your home
province is not behind you and this is the place where it is proper that
I begin,” noted Senator Marcos.
In an earlier interview, Governor Imee R. Marcos expressed her
gratitude to the Ilocanos for the early support they have shown to the
political bid of her brother, noting “that it is a wonderful
opportunity to be an Ilocano this upcoming election.”
“Parang tadhana na sapagkat siya lamang ang taga-amianan (north), si
Bongbong lamang ang kandidato na nanggaling sa Ilocandia. Siguro hulog
ng langit na aksidente na lahat ng kanyang kalaban at katunggali ay
galing sa Bicolandia.”
Senator Marcos is currently in the province to extend support to
Governor Imee R. Marcos, Matthew Marcos-Manotoc and Congresswoman Imelda
Marcos who together filed their COCs today for top local government
