SBM Manotoc to be inducted in Superbrands Hall of FameApr 22, 2019
Affirming his competence in public service, Senior Board Member (SBM) Matthew Marcos Manotoc is being recognized as Hall of Famer of the Outstanding Local Legislator Award bestowed by Superbrands Marketing International, Inc. (SMI).
Another acknowledged Outstanding Local Legislator is Councilor Handy Lao of Laoag City. The awarding will be on April 25 at the Alpha Land Building in Makati City.
SMI is an award-giving organization that recognizes politicians, professionals, companies, and executives who rendered quality governance or contributed to the improvement of the society.
The Superbrands Hall of Fame distinction is given to personalities who bag the same award for three consecutive years. Manotoc received the Outstanding Local Legislator Award in 2017 and 2018, and the third time this year, 2019. Similarly, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee R. Marcos, Manotoc's mother, is also SMI's Hall of Famer for "Most Outstanding Governor," an honor she brought home from 2015 to 2017.
Manotoc entered politics in 2016, and is serving the third year of his first term as Senior Provincial Board Member. One of the youngest board members, his priorities include the holistic development of the youth.
Manotoc heads the Committee on Education and Culture at the provincial board, and also serves as Chairman of the National Movement of Young Legislators (NMYL)-Ilocos Norte Chapter.
Some of the notable legislations he sponsored are Provincial Ordinance No. 005-2016, which provides for the Sirib Athletic Scholarship; Ordinance No. 010-2016 which institutionalized the annual Sirib Awards which recognizes and gives incentives to young Ilocano achievers; Ordinance No. 008-2016 which gives the mandate to create city and municipal youth offices province-wide as counterparts to the Ilocos Norte Youth Development Office; and Ordinance No. 009-2016 which initiated the annual summer Ilocos Norte Youth Games (INYO Games) participated by all towns and cities.
Likewise, he sponsored Ordinance No. 017-2017 that regulates and standardizes the operation of boardinghouses and dormitories in the province to provide "safe and livable second home for students;" the Transparency in Appropriation Ordinance of Ilocos Norte, which promotes transparency and accountability in the Provincial Government; Ordinance No. 053-2018, which grants burial and medical assistance to indigent senior citizens; and the recent Anti-littering Ordinance.
Moreover, Manotoc spearheaded the installation of 27 three-generational (3G) playgrounds. These are recreational fitness parks that promote a healthy lifestyle and a "well-rounded" physical and mental health for Ilocanos.
Manotoc said the recognition is a "pleasant reminder" to continue being a highly efficient leader whose dedication to serve creates healthful communities. His leadership tagline is: "Mangbiag, Mangpapigsa, ken Mangidaulo"–to enliven, strengthen, and lead the province to a more vibrant future, "Narimat a Sirmata."
