Relief ops, free dialysis to highlight Marcos Fiesta

Sep 10, 2019 ...

Celebrating the 102nd birthday anniversary of the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos (FEM), popularly known as "Apo Lakay" to Ilocanos, this year's Marcos Fiesta gears up to strengthen the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte's post calamity operations through a relief caravan and free dialysis treatment.

With more than P 1.238 Billion worth of damages in infrastructure and agriculture caused by Severe Tropical Storm "Ineng" in Ilocos Norte last Agust 23, the relief operations will be held in the City of Batac and the Municipalities of Vintar and Paoay which were among the hardest-hit areas, on September 11, 12, and 13, respectively.

Another highlight of the week is the free dialysis treatment to be administered by the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center (MMMH&MC) on September 11 and 12. Details of the said service will be provided by the hospital's management.

"Inaasahan natin ang pag-attend ng pamilya Marcos headed by our Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, and Senator Imee R. Marcos especially for the relief operations and our free dialysis activity in Batac City," he added.

'Nateng' cook-off, street art to showcase local talents

Instead of the annual "dinengdeng," FEM's favorite dish, this year's cooking showdown on September 11 at the Robinsons Place activity area in San Nicolas will feature "nateng" or vegetable as the main ingredient.

"Dati very specific tayodinengdeng. This time we are diversifying the contest to cook whatever dish they prefer as long as gulay ang main ingredient at pwede rin nilang lagyan ng kaunting sahog," Raquel remarked.

Moreover, more than 100 young artists will be participating in the wall art painting activity along the Sirib Mile, Laoag City from September 9 to11.

Other activities of the 2019 Marcos Fiesta include a quiz show, dance competitions, the Macoy Debate Cup, vlog-making contest, "Ferdie and Imelda" look-alike and singing contest, and a speech choir competition.

On September 11, a simultaneous thanksgiving mass and wreath-laying ceremony will be conducted at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Monument in the Municipality of Sarrat and at the "Daytoy ti Bannawag" Monument in Batac City to honor the greatest son of Ilocos Norte.
