R1AA delegates laud billeting facilities: "Ilocos Norte feels like home"Mar 08, 2019
The athletes and coaches from the various divisions of Region One (R1) expressed appreciation for the host province, Ilocos Norte, on the second day of the R1 Athletic Association (R1AA) Meet.
Ms. Judy Anne Rafanan, a swimming coach from Vigan City, Ilocos Sur, described Ilocos Norte as a very welcoming province, saying that "being here feels like home".
"Unang araw pa lang, maganda na ang pagtanggap nila sa amin. Approachable ang mga tao at pinaka-importante,maayos ang mga billeting areas kung saan kami naka-designate," she said.
Billeting facilities were likewise lauded by delegates from San Carlos City, Pangasinan: "Wala kaming naging problema sa mga facilities. Maayos ang mga comfort rooms at mga tubig kaya kumportable ang lahat."
Also from Vigan City, Ms. Jocelyn Bello laud the Provincial Government and the Department of Education (DepEd) - Ilocos Norte for the unique opening ceremony, which featured several cultural performances.
"We appreciated the program a lot. We know and we expected that Ilocos Norte's opening program is fantastic and exciting. Makikita rito ang iba't-ibang talento at husay ng mga taga-Ilocos Norte. Maganda talaga!" she exclaimed.
San Carlos City observes environment-friendly practices
The San Carlos delegation were also commended by fellow delegates and spectators when, following the opening ceremony, they immediately put to practice environment-friendly principles and began helping out in the collection of trash at the Marcos Memorial Stadium.
Ms. Jenifer Ferrer, school principal, explained that this is already a practice in all schools in San Carlos City.
"Students are used to it kasi practice na talaga namin ito sa mga schools doon. Aside from pamumulot, ugali din nilang magmano, at batiin ang mga tao, partikular na ang mga bisita," she explained.
The R1AA Meet 2019 started officially on Wednesday, March 6.
