"PinakBest" products of Ilocos Norte gather sales in Quezon CityFeb 02, 2017
Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) joined the Producer to Consumer Trade Show at the Quezon City Hall through the "PinakBest Products" booth set up by the Ilocos Norte Tourism Office (INTO).
According to Mr. Xavier Ruiz, provincial tourism operations officer II, sales were fast-moving from the opening day, January 30.
INTO slot aims to showcase Ilocos tour packages, inabel hand-made products and authentic Ilocano delicacies such as bagnet, longganisa, miki noodles and Ilocos empanada at the event, boosting both tourism and small and medium-sized enterprises in Ilocos Norte.
The trade show ran from January 30-31, a result of the partnership between Provincial Governor Imee R. Marcos and Quezon City Mayor Herbert M. Bautista.
Mr. Ruiz assured that the "PinakBest Products" would be at the Quezon City Hall monthly, as Governor Marcos and Mayor Bautista had signed the Memorandum of Agreement regarding the trade show.
PGIN's continuous support to local producers in Ilocos Norte
In 2015, Governor Marcos assured in her State of the Province Address (SOPA) the continuing support of PGIN to local producers, already proposing to join the trade show in Quezon City.
"Itaguyod ang produktong sinauna... magtinda na tayo sa iba't-ibang bagsakan, at magbukas tayo ng Ilocos Store sa Quezon City Hall. Siak ti Manang Tindera! Happy to serve!" *(Ako ang Manang Tindera!)
And in SOPA 2016, Governor Marcos has mentioned how this support for local producers would drive sustainable development and build stronger relations with other local government units.
"We must commit as a province to long-term, integrated master planning. Annual investment plans only result in short term band aid solutions that in the long run may cause evermore problems. Ti kinatan-ok ni Ilocano haan laeng a sao-sao pugso nga agsukat-sukat. Awan ti naindaklan a proyekto a malpas iti maysa nga aldaw laeng wenno maysa a tawen nu di ket dekada ken adu a kapututan ti aglabas, satayto maaramid ti gannuat tayo!"
