PGIN urges Ilocanos to use 911 hotlineMay 28, 2019
The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) through the Provincial Information Technology Office (PITO) encourages citizens to continuously use the local emergency hotline to further ensure faster and more efficient emergency response in the province.
PGIN launched the Provincial Incidence Response Management (PIRM) 911 on December 2016 to address local emergency cases through immediate coordination with the Ilocos Norte Provincial Police Office (INPPO) and other public safety agencies.
"Ipinaaalam po namin sa publiko na dapat nating gamitin ang emergency hotline natin na 911. Libre po ang pagtawag dito sa lahat ng networks, including landlines. We encourage you to use this upang mas mabilis ang pag-relay ng mga emergency responses ninyo sa pinakamalapit na responders sa inyong lugar," said Mr. Wilfredo Lorenzo Jr., officer-in-charge of PITO and overall in-charge of PIRM 911 operations.
The use of free calls is already implemented through Executive Order (E.O) No. 56, series of 2018, which took effect on May 25, 2018.
Lorenzo also reminded the people to be responsible in using the hotline, saying, "Sana'y huwag nating gawing biro ang paggamit sa 911. Mula noong naging libre kasi ito, dumami ang bilang ng prank calls na natatanggap namin. Ipinaaalala po namin na ang mga prank calls ay recorded at may kaakibat na parusa para sa mga umaabuso dito."
Ilocos Norte was the first province to integrate province-wide emergency hotline in the country.
