New Ilocos Norte officials set for inaugurationJun 27, 2019
Headed by Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, the new sets of provincial, city, and municipal officials will take their oath of office on June 29, 8:00 a.m. in front of the "Daytoy ti Bannawag" monument of President Ferdinand E. Marcos in Batac City.
"[The City of] Batac plays a very important and historic role in the politics and leadership in Ilocos Norte. It, being home to many outstanding leaders and Ilocano politician, most notable is President Ferdinand E. Marcos," remarked Provincial Tourism Officer, Mr. Ian B. Raquel.
"The venue was chosen to commemorate the long and outstanding heritage of leadership and politics that we have seen in the city and in the province, as well," he added.
162nd Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Diosdado M. Peralta will administer Manotoc's oath, including that of Vice Governor Cecilia Araneta Marcos and the Provincial Board Members. Moreover, Manotoc will administer the oath of city and municipal mayors, vice mayors and councilors while Brgy. Captain Norman Calaoagan, the youngest elected barangay official in the province, will administer the oath of Ilocos Norte Second District Congressman Angelo Marcos Barba.
Also highlighting the event is the inaugural address of Senator Imee R. Marcos. Accompanied by her sons, and former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., outgoing Ilocos Norte Second District Representative Imelda R. Marcos, and Ms. Irene Marcos-Araneta, Senator Marcos took her oath of office before President Rodrigo R. Duterte last June 25 alongside other winning senators from the Hugpong ng Pagbabago slate.
Before the inaugural ceremonies, a concelebrated thanksgiving mass headed by Archbishop Emeritus Orlando Cardinal Quevedo, Most Reverend Bishop Renato Mayugba, and other Ilocano bishops will be held at the Immaculate Conception Parish Church in Batac City.
National officials, cabinet secretaries, and guests from the private, business and trade, and education sector, among others, are expected to attend the event.
