INPPO, PGIN hopeful for another safe electionJan 11, 2019
Aiming for another peaceful midterm election, the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO) will conduct a Unity Walk, Interfaith Prayer Rally, and Peace Covenant Signing this Sunday, January 13, at the Aurora Park, Laoag City.
The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) supports this activity, which aims to promote clean, honest, and peaceful elections on May 13. The candidates as well as officials of the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Department of Education (DepEd) will come together in a show of solidarity.
"Tapno agbalin a safe ken secure iti eleksion, agpirmada iti peace covenant ken ag-pledge da," explained P/Insp. Wilma Palting, police community relations officer at the INPPO.
[This activity will be conducted to have a safe and secure election... the candidates and other concerned parties will sign a peace covenant; afterwards, they will make a pledge.]
In 2016, Governor Imee R. Marcos commended the INPPO and other concerned agencies for enabling Ilocos Norte to achieve the most peaceful election in history. She further intensified her drive for public safety and support for the police through her "Livable, Sustainable, and Resilient" campaign later that year.
Marcos is on her third and final term as provincial governor and is a senatoriable for the upcoming election on May.
