Imee Marcos reechoes support for federalism, urges other LGUs to be watchful of dev'ts

Jan 27, 2018 ...

Visiting Muñoz City in Nueva Ecija last weekend, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee R. Marcos reiterated her support for President Rodrigo R. Duterte's move for federalism and urged fellow local chief executives to follow closely the developments towards a possible shift in government system.

She pointed out that development should be spreading outwards from "Imperial Manila" and concentrating more on Mindanao and other areas of the country, "Subalit sa kabila nito, kailangang pag-isipan natin yung matitindin isyu, katulad ng local budgeting.

In addition, she stressed the importance of proper organization of police forces and levels or scopes of authority.

"Tayo sa baba, sa lokal, abalang-abala rin, kasi in the end, tayo rin ang makikinabang."

Governor Marcos was attending the 5th Uhay Festival, a tradition of the country's "Science City" aiming to enrich culture, strengthen spiritual roots, and promote economic growth.

She also addressed citizens of Muñoz regarding their support for Former Senator Ferdinand R. "Bong Bong" Marcos (BBM), "Nagpapasalamat naman kami dito sa siyudad ninyo, dito, Vice President siya, eighty percent (80%), siya ang panalo."

The governor's brother had run in the 2016 Election for the Vice Presidential position, but the seat went to Former Camarines Sur Rep. Maria Leonora "Leni" G. Robredo. BBM then filed an election protest, which is now pending before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET).
