Nov. 17, 2015 ...

With its vibrant and dynamic tourism industry, Ilocos Norte is gearing up to host the pre-pageant of Mister International 2015 from November 20 to 23, 2015.

“The Philippines is the host country for the Mr. International 2015 and one of the highlights of the pageant which is the national costume parade will be held in the province on November 23 at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena,” said Ilocos Norte Tourism Office head Aianree Racquel during an interview.

Together with Mr. International 2014 Neil Perez, forty candidates representing different countries are expected to arrive in the province on Friday, November 20.

In recent years, the efforts of Governor Imee R. Marcos in promoting the Ilocos Norte’s key tourist attractions through provincial government’s tourism campaign ‘Paoay Kumakaway!’ have been attracting national as well as global attention.

The province has a stunning 380.64% growth in the tourism translating it to more than 1,245,562 day visitors that came in the province from January to July 2015 only.

Ilocos Norte’s hosting of the international pageant is part of the ‘Tan-ok ni Ilocano Festival of Festivals’ season in the province wherein a series of activities has been prepared by the provincial government to celebrate the unique culture and greatness of Ilocanos.

Aside from the candidates’ display of their national costumes, a photo shoot of the candidates will also be held at Kingfisher Resort in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte.

A pool party, wherein locals will have the chance to interact with the contestants, will also take place on Saturday, November 21 at Plaza del Norte Hotel and Convention Center.

Racquel further revealed that preparations are now underway to ensure the success of the province’s hosting of the international pageant and to make that the candidates will truly experience the “extraordinary and unique culture of Ilocos Norte.”

A favorite venue for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferencing, and Exhibitions), Ilocos Norte has already hosted a number of international events such as the recent International Paoay Regatta, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation – Expert Group on New and Renewable Energy Technologies (APEC-EGNRET) meeting last April, Tri Ilocos Nort3, among others.
