Feb 13, 2017 ...

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte (PGIN) will celebrate the "I Love Ilocos Norte" on February 14 at the Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena in Laoag City.

The program will start with the awarding of Ilocano youth thru the 2017 Sirib Youth Awards which coincides with the celebration of the 199th Foundation Anniversary of the province, counting down to its bicentennial anniversary next year.

The Sirib Youth Awards aims to recognize young Ilocanos who have brought honor to the province through their participation in various national and international competitions.

Mr. Weenter Ventura, executive director of the Ilocos Norte Youth Development Office (INYDO), said that Valentine's Day was chosen to show love to outstanding Ilocano youth thanking them for bringing honor to the province in their respective fields.

Ventura said that as Ilocos Norte gears up for its bicentennial anniversary, it is important to highlight the participation of the Ilocano youth in achieving sustainable development of our province.

The second edition of Ilocoslovakla, a gay-themed pageant organized by PGIN, will have a pre-pageant on February 14 with the theme "Confidently Beautiful with a twist" Dagitoy dan! Nakaramrambak! Nakabutbuteng! (Narito na sila! Napakasaya! Nakakatakot!)

The candidates will showcase their talents and beauty to earn a spot for the top 10 in Miss Ilocoslovakla 2017 on February 18.

The Ilocoslovakla intensifies the support of PGIN to gender empowerment and promotes the acceptance of the diverse gender identities in the province

Mocha Uson group to highlight concert

A Mocha Girls concert will also highlight the "I Love Ilocos Norte" Valentine's party.  Mocha Girls is an all-female singing and dancing group. The group rose to fame partly due to lead vocalist Mocha Uson's adult-themed antics and the Mocha Uson Blog.

Mocha Uson is presently a board member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).

Talents from the local music and entertainment industry will perform as front acts for the singing group.
