Apr. 04, 2020 ...

In anticipation of the possible wide-scale transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the province, Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc appeals to all local government units of Ilocos Norte to put up their quarantine facilities to avert the continues threat of the infectious virus.

"The next step for the towns is to have their own quarantine facilities," Gov. Marcos Manotoc said.

According to him, the initiative is in consideration to the returning residents who were stranded due to the enforcement of total lockdown in the province.

"We ask all the mayors to admit them [returning residents], to welcome them home but they have to be isolated in a separate area," Gov. Marcos Manotoc continued.

Different medical facilities, mothering centers, evacuation centers, hotels, and motels are among the options for quarantine areas.

"Maybe we can reach out to DepEd [Department of Education] to use the classrooms too," he added.

After recording its first two positive cases of COVID-19, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte prepared 40 rooms at Plaza del Norte (PDN) and makeshift tents at Department of Public Works and Highways–Ilocos Norte First District Engineering Office (DPWH–Ilocos Norte 1st DEO) Compound as quarantine site.

Gov. Marcos Manotoc explained that low-risk patients under investigation (PUIs) with mild symptoms, without comorbidity, and under 60 years old will be housed in PDN.

While high-risk PUIs with mild symptoms, with comorbidity, and above 60 years old will either go to Laoag City General Hospital or DPWH–Ilocos Norte 1st DEO Compound across Governor Roque B. Ablan Sr. Memorial Hospital.
