EGS inaugurates facility in Ilocos Norte, brings 1,200 jobsApr 27, 2016
One of the leading Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) firms Expert Global Solutions (EGS) finally opened its facility in Ilocos Norte on April 26, 2016, vowing to bring over 1,200 jobs to Ilocanos in the province.
Located at a commercial area in Brgy. 1, San Francisco, San Nicolas, EGS building can accommodate 1,500 employees in its full capacity.
EGS has opened its temporary facility at the Centennial Arena in Laoag City last 2014 which initially offered hundreds of jobs to Ilocanos.
In her speech during the inaugural ceremony, Governor Imee Marcos recognized the commitment of EGS led by its President and Country Head Bong Borja to the province as well as the positive social impact of having quality jobs in Ilocos Norte.
“The entry of the BPO sector here is truly inspiring because after all, Ilocanos have traveled throughout the world only to look for jobs, leaving their families... There is the real benefit EGS is giving us today, and that is the social and psychological benefit of staying home. You are keeping Ilocano families together, that we could stay home.”
With EGS as one of the global leaders in the industry, Borja shared that the company chose to open a site in Ilocos Norte because of the abundance of Ilocano talent and the provincial government’s relentless support.
“The (Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte) is as committed as us to making sure that the operation here becomes successful,” he said during a press conference, adding that they will continue partnering with universities in the province to fill the seats.
Being a part of the EGS team, he added, “provides (employees) a world class skill,” aside from a competitive salary, benefits and incentives.
Jomarc Yamon, one of the successful employees of EGS working for 2 years and 6 months now, shared that he is glad to have started his career as a trainor in the company.
Governor Marcos hopes that the investment growth in Ilocos Norte will further boost economic development as more local businesses are expected to flourish in the area including cafés and restaurants.
Since 2012, Governor Marcos pledged to create more quality jobs for Ilocanos through the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte’s Task Force Trabaho.
She then started her aggressive campaign in attracting BPO companies and has successfully drawn the interests of EGS and Accenture, one of the world’s largest management consulting, technology services and outsourcing companies, which opened on March 4, 2016.
